TNTP seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead its Finance Department. This position may be based in the central TNTP office in Brooklyn, New York or from a home office (location is flexible); and will require some travel. The position is available in October 2012.

Finance Department
TNTP?s Finance department is responsible for developing and executing the fiscal strategy for our growing and financially thriving organization of over 300 full-time and regular part-time employees working on contracts in almost 30 states across the country. Specifically, the Finance department leads budget creation and management, financial reporting, audits, internal controls and policies, and other accounting and financial operations.

This is a dynamic team focused on TNTP?s long-term financial strength and stability. We don?t just report on numbers, we dig into them to find out what?s going on. We proactively make recommendations for stretching or spending the dollars that we have. We develop and manage progressive financial systems that make our internal clients? jobs easier and give them a real-time snapshot of where their finances stand. We serve as both a financial resource and a partner in the work.

Role and Responsibilities
TNTP is seeking an entrepreneurial senior executive to lead its Finance Department. As a member of the Executive Team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a critical role in setting the vision, long-term strategy, and culture of the organization. He or she is a key advisor to our core business leaders, evaluating and assisting them with their budgeting, revenue approach, and financial models; and is responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization, in conjunction with the CEO and the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board.

Specific responsibilities include:

Provide strategic vision and leadership on TNTP?s long-term plans, goals, financial metrics, and policies
? In partnership with the CEO and business leaders, set annual and long-term financial goals; and regularly evaluate TNTP?s performance against both these goals and the annual budget.
? Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and Audit and Finance Committee of the Board and make recommendations for improvements to strategy and operations.
? In collaboration with the business leaders, develop new business and funding opportunities including creating budgets and pricing models for new services.

Lead and manage the Finance Department
? Oversee all accounts, ledgers and internal reporting systems, federal and philanthropic grant reporting; and ensure compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements. Maintain internal control safeguards and manage all audit activities.
? Manage cash flow and forecasting, maintain effective banking relationships, and lead our investment plan to ensure TNTP maintains its strong cash position
? Oversee all budgeting and monitoring of progress against program and internal budgets. This includes monitoring MGA and goals around revenue source distribution.
? Oversee effective implementation of our financial operations including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and expense management.

Build a strong Finance team that attains its goals by effectively attracting, hiring, on-boarding and evaluating staff

Qualifications

In addition we seek individuals who have:
? Maturity with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the CEO of a multi-divisional organization. If coming from the for-profit world, nonprofit board experience is preferred
? Excellent leadership, analytical and strategy development skills
? Excellent project management and organization skills
? Excellent management skills, including experience effectively managing staff and developing talent
? The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
? Extraordinary attention to detail
? Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity
? Professional demeanor, discretion, and good judgment
? High degree of personal integrity and personal accountability
? A willingness to travel occasionally (particularly if not based in Brooklyn, NY)
? MBA or CPA strongly preferred

Compensation
The annual salary for this position is commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for a performance based bonus
