OVERVIEW

In this role, you will provide management of clinical behavioral services, including program design and implementation. The Psychologist will also conduct psychological and behavioral assessments as necessary, and monitor self-injurious and aggressive behavior of students. This individual will also provide direct psychological services, per selected IEP's, and adhere to Medical Assistance billing procedures to qualified students. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating clinical behavioral services at the Lois T. Murray School for children with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Recruiting, hiring and supervising behavioral support staff
  • Monitoring self-injurious and aggressive behaviors of students and supervise behavior protocols in order to minimize injuries for both staff and students while facilitating acquisition of more productive coping strategies for students.
  • Conducting psychological and behavioral assessments of students when necessary
  • Providing consultative services to school staff, as well as direct services to students per IEP requirements, and adhere to Medical Assistance billing procedures as needed
  • In conjunction with the Director, Principal, Vice-Principal and the Social Worker, maintain productive and proactive relationships with parents, with the goals being to maximize parental satisfaction and to facilitate home-school continuity of programming.

Collaborating with the Social Worker to arrange and facilitate parent meetings, trainings, and/or support groups , with the administrative staff to develop and implement an ongoing in-service program for all staff, and with administration to develop and implement policies and procedures regarding risk management of students

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate in psychology
  • Internship, fellowship or other experience in a school setting, including experience in the evaluation of children with special needs
  • Must be skilled in the administration and interpretation of instruments and methods used in the psychological assessment of children
  • Licensed in Maryland by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists
  • Training in applied behavior analysis and behavioral program implementation for children with moderate to severe developmental disabilities
