CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) ? A group of protesters near the Democratic National Convention have stopped blocking an intersection and are being allowed to walk as a group up a sidewalk.
Police had surrounded a group of about 50 protesters who sat down in the middle of an intersection near where the convention is being held.
After about two hours, two members of the group spoke to the police chief and they were allowed to continue walking.
Around the time they began walking again, police put a second demonstrator in handcuffs.
A larger group of about 200 protesters had begun marching around 12:30 p.m., intentionally heading outside of a designated parade route without the necessary permit.
