HTC teases something incredible for next week, it's the Droid Incredible 4G LTE

We've gone hands-on with it; we've compared it to the HTC EVO 4G LTE plus, Verizon and HTC have made it official. Now it looks as though we may actually see the Droid Incredible 4G LTE finally land into some consumers hands according to a tweet sent out by HTC.

Next week, we've got some special fun headed your way. We hear it's going to be INCREDIBLE.

We don't think we're reading into it too much here, so if you had your eyes and heart set on the Droid Incredible 4G LTE you only have a few more days to wait and then you can give one a home. Any takers? Specs can be found here if you're looking for them.

U.S Coast Guard Alameda Asbestos | Northwest Mesothelioma ...

During World War II the U.S Coast Guard brought Alameda land at the same time as the U.S Navy acquired land for a Naval Air Station. The surrounding area around the site of the U.S Coast Guard was already home to numerous shipbuilding and industrial companies such as Alameda Works Shipyard, Todd Shipyard, Plant Shipyard, as well as an array of other engineering corporations. The U.S Coast Guard transformed the islands 67 acres of land into solely dedicated training center facilities, barracks, mess halls and galleys, engineering and administration buildings, and an infirmary. After this initial contract had been completed in 1942, further works were carried out for additional barracks, an incinerator, anti-aircraft trainer building, and docks for small boats.

The training center was originally used to train recruits, and when initially opened on June 1, 1942 it provided accommodation for 900 men. At a later date speciality training was offered at the facility to signalmen, firemen, laundrymen, raidomen, boatswain?s mate, cooks and bakers, and volunteer port security. After the war the facility continued to operate, and became the U.S Coast Guards largest field unit on the West Coast during the 1960s, until it was shut down in 1982.

Romney attacks 'Obamacare' ahead of SCOTUS ruling

SALEM, Va. (AP) ? With an eye on the Supreme Court ruling this week, Mitt Romney on Tuesday said President Barack Obama's time in office would have been wasted if the high court strikes down the president's signature health care overhaul.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee previewed his health care strategy while speaking to supporters outside a Virginia machine manufacturer just two days before the Supreme Court was expected to rule on the constitutionality of Obama's signature domestic achievement.

"If Obamacare is not deemed constitutional, then the first three-and-a-half years of this president's term will have been wasted on something that has not helped the American people," Romney told more than 1,000 supporters gathered outside Carter Machinery in southwest Virginia. "If it is deemed to stand, then I'll tell you one thing, we're going to have to have a president ? and I'm that one ? that's going to get rid of Obamacare. We're going to stop it on day one."

At a fundraiser in Atlanta Tuesday, Obama countered that his health care law was critical to expanding health care coverage for millions of Americans and preventing companies from discriminating against people who are sick.

"We don't need to refight this battle over health care. It's the right thing to do," Obama said.

Romney's plan would not prevent health care companies from denying coverage to new customers with medical conditions. Nor would he force them to cover young adults on their parents' plans through age 26.

Though the economy remains the No. 1 worry for voters, the health care ruling could have the biggest near-term political impact. If the Supreme Court upholds the law, it would mean validation for the president and the Democrats in Congress responsible for its passage in 2010. But the overhaul mobilized small-government advocates and was a big force behind the GOP takeover of the House that year. So if the law is upheld, Republicans have a clear case to make for strengthening their numbers and their power to overturn all or parts of it.

Romney has public events scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday in Virginia, a state that has been an aggressive opponent to the health care law under Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. The former Massachusetts governor is expected to deliver public remarks in Washington following the Supreme Court ruling Thursday.

Romney's promise to repeal the health care law has become a pillar in an agenda that so far offers voters few other specifics. He released a new television ad campaign late last week stressing that the elimination of the health care law will be the top priority in his administration's first 100 days.

Should the court strike down the law, however, attention would turn quickly to what he would do to help 50 million uninsured people get coverage and bring down the nation's spiraling health care costs.

Only about one-third of Americans support the law, according to a recent AP-GfK poll, but 77 percent want the president and Congress to start working on a new health care bill if the Supreme Court rules the 2010 overhaul unconstitutional.

Romney has promised to replace the measure with a handful of "common-sense" reforms, but has spent little time so far crafting a comprehensive plan. He did not address any plans to replace the law Tuesday.

Obama was set to appear Tuesday at two fundraisers in Atlanta, followed by two events in Florida.

Suspicious package at church innocuous

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - A suspicious package found Saturday evening at a popular church campus in Palm Beach Gardens "turned out to be nothing,"? said Ellen Lovejoy, spokeswoman for the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.

The bomb squad was called to the Christ Fellowship Church at 5343 Northlake Boulevard around 8 p.m. after churchgoers found a suspicious package in the parking lot of the campus, said Chief Keith Bryer, spokesman for the Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue.

The package was x-rayed and found to contain nothing suspicious, Lovejoy said. She said she did not know what the package contained.

The church was evacuated during the investigation.

MIAMI (AP) ? Tropical Storm Debby crawled slowly closer to the northern rim of the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, its exact track still uncertain as forecasters warned the system could begin strengthening and produce near hurricane force winds in coming days.

Amid an ongoing threat of torrential downpours from Debby, authorities warned of the possibility of flooding and strong winds from Texas to Florida. At least one tornado linked to the storm touched down Saturday in southwest Florida, but no injuries were reported. Heavy squalls pounded parts of that state.

At 5 a.m. EDT Sunday, Debby was about 165 miles (265 kilometers) southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River, with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph (85 kph), the Nationial Hurricane Center in Miami said.

Debby was moving toward the north at 3 mph (6 kph) and was expected to strengthen as it gradually takes a more westward direction in coming hours.

The center of Debby was expected to linger in the northern Gulf over the next few days with no landfall in the immediate forecast.

Forecasters said Debby could be near hurricane strength by Monday night. Meanwhile, up to six inches of rain along the coast, with isolated amounts of 10 inches were possible.

It was the first time four tropical storms have been recorded before July 1 during the Atlantic hurricane season since record keeping began in 1851.

Debby forced the suspension of 8 percent of the region's oil and gas production.

The government reported that nine production platforms and one drilling rig were evacuated. The suspended crude production amounts to about 2 percent of U.S production and about 0.1 percent of global production. The reduced production is not expected to impact oil prices unless the storm strengthens and forces more production platforms to close.

A tropical storm warning was issued for part of the southeast Louisiana coast. Officials there have been monitoring the weather closely for the last several days. Some low-lying areas close to the coast flood easily in rough weather.

Near the mouth of the Mississippi southeast of New Orleans, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser said officials were making preparations to protect the main highway from tidal flooding.

A tornado touched down in Collier County in southwest Florida and forecasters warned other twisters were possible.

Several homes were damaged and tree limbs were down, smashing atop at least two cars, The Naples Daily News reported.

"This is quite common with this type of storm," senior hurricane specialist Stacy Stewart with the National Hurricane Center said of the twisters. "They tend to not be very large or long-lived, which can be difficult to detect on radar. So people need to keep an eye on the sky."

Out in the Gulf, Anadarko Petroleum removed all non-essential personnel and expects to close four facilities in the central and eastern Gulf by Saturday. Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell and Marathon Oil said non-essential personnel were being removed but production was not being affected. ExxonMobil reported that its operations were unaffected.

Alberto was the first storm this year. It formed off the South Carolina coast on May 19, almost two weeks before the hurricane season officially began June 1.

University of Glasgow improves terahertz laser laboratory safety

The University of Glasgow has taken steps to improve safety for researchers in its terahertz infrared laser laboratory.

The terahertz region of the electromagnetic spectrum is one of the least explored but shows great potential for application in fields of science, security and medicine. Because the terahertz laser is a Class IV device,?university personnel wear safety goggles to protect their eyes but the infrared beam also has the potential to cause serious damage to clothing or skin. To ensure the terahertz infrared laser beam is on-target a variety of infrared lenses and mirrors are used. ?

Yong Ma, a research assistant at the University?s school of engineering microsystem technology group, said: ?I always scan the entire area [of the laboratory] with our Flir i7 thermal imaging camera to detect any beams that are projected in the wrong direction.?

Historically the laboratory used thermal paper to detect beam projection. This discolours when it becomes warm but it is a method that is far from being efficient. The Flir i7 is a top-of-the-range model in the Flir entry-level series of thermal imaging cameras.?The latest generation features a 140 x 140 pixel array, providing an increased image quality of 36 per cent?against its forerunner, and also a wider field of view. It is also much more robust and able to withstand a 2m drop test onto a hard surface without any detrimental effect.

China Seen as Principal Accomplice in North Korean Arms Violations: Report

A United Nations investigation into North Korean sanctions violations has turned up evidence of Chinese entanglement in over 50 percent of the alleged breaches of international rules against luxury product sales and weapons trading with Pyongyang, Agence France-Presse reported on Friday (see GSN, June 21).

The U.N. Security Council panel with oversight of the application of North Korean sanctions found 38 incidents in which the North either received or sold prohibited items. In 21 of those incidents there was Chinese involvement, anonymous sources informed the Japanese Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

"The findings reflect in the end China has helped North Korea expand its weaponry and military threats," the newspaper concluded (see GSN, June 14).

International sanctions passed in 2006 and 2009 following North Korea's two atomic tests are aimed at undermining the country's ballistic missile and nuclear weapons development.

Beijing is Pyongyang's lead ally and economic benefactor. Chinese companies or shipping hubs served as tools of transfer in most of the studied sanctions violations. There were two instances in which Chinese involvement was seen in North Korea's sale or purchase of ballistic missile components and other materials for unconventional weapons, according to Asahi.?

Five years ago, Pyongyang attempted to transport to Syria through the Chinese shipping hub at Dalian prohibited metal coverings and electronic components intended production of ballistic missiles, the newspaper reported.

Notably, the U.N. investigators did not include in their count North Korea's reported August 2011 acquisition of four large transporter vehicles from a Chinese state-affiliated company. The vehicles are strongly suspected to have been repurposed as mobile ballistic missile launchers; they were displayed in an April military parade (Agence France-Presse/Jakarta Globe, June 22).

Separately, the U.S. and South Korean militaries on Friday staged a large-scale artillery exercise that showed off their coordinated fighting tactics. The 2,000-person exercise was aimed at discouraging the North from mounting any new provocations, the Associated Press reported.

U.S. attack helicopters, armored vehicles and fighter aircraft participated in the drill, according to a South Korean Defense Ministry statement.

The United States and its regional allies are concerned North Korea could make good on any one of the numerous threats it has issued in recent months. Pyongyang has warned it could carry out another long-range rocket launch and is broadly seen to have completed or be close to finished with technical preparations for a third nuclear test (Associated Press/Time, June 21).

I-I've been sitting here for like fifteen minutes staring at the intro page and trying to decide between Tweedle Dum, Alice's Son, and The Red King. But if I picked Tweedle Dum, I probably couldn't use the character image I want to use! Even though I have a personality idea. Oh, but then I could try using the character image for Alice's Son, but the personality. Serious? I don't do so well with serious. So then there's the Red King, but I'll have to use another character image I wanna use...but not as much as the other one, but I like flirts. So. So. T_T
